Lotz wanted to create a new method to give the three-dimensional characteristics of a volume represented on a plane that viewers without knowledge or understanding of conventional representation a way to visual that volume.  The development and implementation of perspective drawings creating a completely new and technical way of representing three-dimensional object on a two-dimensional plane.
