Says: "Maverick-
It is most maverick when all you need is a kiss and everything else is left up to the imagination. To make a kiss so great in a film takes everything that Debra says, and a feeling for the audience that they are just as enraptured as the characters. When it is not working, it is because the audience is somehow disconnected and rather than experiencing it vicariously, they become voyeurs. For me that is such a big ICK!! "

Says: "Hmm, anything other criteria that constitutes a great kiss? What about the kiss in Casablanca (a kiss is just a kiss), From Here to Eternity on the beach (for some strange reason I visited that beach in Hawaii), the upside Spider Man kiss, the Brokeback Mountain kiss.
Back to great kisses--it has to have the build up, it has to represent passion, kissing in the rain has a certain cache, I think length has something to do with it.
Now that's sad that I feel the need to analyze the criteria for a great kiss.
I've heard good things about Nick and Norah. It sounds like a good example of good appropriation--a variation on the teen / buildingsroman movie with its own twist.
An interesting question--how can you maintain your maverick (shades of John McCain) outsider, anarchist, avant-garde designer?
Sounds like you had a refreshing weekend.
Debra"

Says: "Groovie song! Very Maverick, more like drunken cowboy-esque.
Will check out your new flick recommendation. Can't wait to see the kiss. I made a video called Kisses and Fishes. Well, you know what happens... kisses lead to fishes, or so is implied. Wish I could up load it on to this e-port, but its file is rather large, and you have to see the whole thing to get it. "
