Hazel Mandujano's current practice focuses on graphic design, book making, community and long conversations. She has explored these aspects of her practice in many ways ranging from her career choices to side projects events that she has created and produced. She has self published many books including mini comics
and exhibition catalogues. She has also successfully produced local events that have bloomed into large communities that are powered by the d.i.y. (Do It Yourself) mentality. The first of those events launched in the summer of ’06, Felt Club. Felt Club is a craft fair that caters to crafters with an independent eye and
mission. Crafters were given a forum where they could sell their wares among other independent crafters. Felt Club has grown into a community of Los Angeles crafters that collaborate and inspire each other while growing their businesses. The second of these events is super*MARKET. super*MARKET is a comics salon that features a rotating group of independent artists that self publish comics and sequential art. super*MARKET launched in Dec. ’07 and was very popular with comic artists and enthusiasts and gained the support of myspace.com as well as the Pool tradeshow. In the spring of '10 she launched The Good Exchange with Lorenzo Hurtado at Otis, this event is meant to generate a dialogue between the students of different disciplines and build a community through exchange (literally). Students are asked to bring goods that are made outside of school and use them as currency. TGE also exists offsite in the form of a sale and exhibition at a local gallery, the first was at Meltdown Comics in Hollywood. In the spring, Mandujano will be visiting The Sandberg Institute in Amsterdam and working with designers, Metahaven.
Mandujano received her BFA, Fine Arts  in 2003 from Otis College of Art and Design. She was awarded an Output award in 2010. and her MFA in 2010
