Zipporah Lax Yamamoto
Zipporah Lax Yamamoto is a senior public arts officer with Metro, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority. She provides project management for the selection, fabrication and installation of works of art in the Metro transit system. Current projects include the Expo Line, a new light rail line that will travel from downtown Los Angeles to Santa Monica, and the Orange Line Extension, a dedicated busway in the San Fernando Valley. Before joining Metro, Zipporah was assistant director of the Public Art Studies Program at USC and an arts coordinator for New York City Department of Education. She has also taught at USC and UCLA and has led workshops for educators in the United States and abroad. As an artist, Zipporah has completed public art projects in Miami and New York, and has collaborated with the design collective warm + fuzzy on masterplan projects for several schools in the Los Angeles area. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Pratt Institute, a Master of Public Art Studies from USC and a PhD in Culture and Performance from UCLA.
