Xochi Maberry-Gaulke

Xochi Maberry-Gaulke was born in Los Angeles, California in 1994 and was officially welcomed into the LA arts scene at her baby naming ceremony when thirty close friends and family witnessed her mothers anoint her head with breast milk. Born to artists Cheri Gaulke and Sue Maberry, it seemed like everything had an excuse to become performance art. Xochi and twin sister, Marka, were raised in this colorful atmosphere that ultimately guided their appreciation for the twinkling city of LA. It wasn’t until her high school geology class that unearthed Xochi’s other side, leading to a discovery and passion for earth science. After graduating from The Evergreen State College in the spring of 2016 with a BA in visual arts and currently undergoing an MFA in Public Practice at Otis College of Art and Design, Xochi’s mission is to unify the arts with earth science to form a better connection to her home in LA.
