Sally Tallant is currently Artistic Director and CEO of the Liverpool Biennial and was formerly Head of Programmes at the Serpentine Gallery, London where she was responsible for the development and delivery of an integrated programme of Exhibitions, Architecture, Education and Public Programmes. Since 2001 she developed an ambitious programme of artist’s projects and commissions, conferences, talks and events. Recent projects include The Edgware Road Project with Åbäke, Bidoun, CAMP, Bahbak Hashemi-Nezhad, Susan Hefuna, Lamia Joreige, Hiwa K, no.w.here, Khalid Abdalla, Marwan Rechmaoui, Wael Shawky, Rania Stephan, Ultra-red and Emily Wardill; Skills Exchange with Marcus Coates, Tom Hunter and Beatrice Gibson; Turning the World Upside Down, large-scale sculptures by Anish Kapoor in Kensington Gardens; Disassembly with Runa Islam, Christian Boltanski, Yona Friedman and Faisal Abdu’Allah; Lets Twitch Again, Maria Y’Barra Jnr.; Hearing Voices, Seeing Things with Bob and Roberta Smith, Jessica Voorsanger and LCCA ; Park Products by Kathrin Böhm and Andreas Lang. She has curated performances, sound events, film programmes and conferences including initiating the Park Nights series in the Serpentine Gallery Pavilions, co-curating the Serpentine Gallery Marathon series with Hans Ulrich Obrist. She initiated and programmed the Deschooling Society conference with The Hayward Gallery and MoMA New York; sound performances by MIMEO, Pauline Oliveros and Charlemagne Palestine. Since 2007 she has overseen the delivery of 5 major exhibitions each year at the Serpentine including Jeff Koons, Klara Liden, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Mark Leckey and others. She has curated and organised exhibitions in a wide range of contexts including the Hayward Gallery and artist-run spaces, hospitals, parks and public spaces; lectured on graduate and post-graduate courses at the internationally and is a regular contributor to conferences nationally and internationally. She is, a Trustee of the Chisenhale Gallery and Raking Leaves, the External Examiner for MA Fine Art at Central St Martins.
