Studio from 2019

What I call "Inside my studio" is never confined by walls. When I am conscious of the surrounding, I am inside the studio, "at work."

October 2018

Once in a while, some color/texture combinations keep my attention much long period. This fallen leaf picked up in At Water found its resting spot on my book of Monet, "Green reflections," 1914-18.

I still love watching them every day. The pleasure and joy I receive never gets less as days go by. Painting from 1918 and the leaf from 2018...I, the observer can only understand time as an experience regardless how scientists define time.

This photo wasn't taken at my studio. This is the last visit I made to see John at his assisted senior apartment in Pasadena where he was recovering from a stroke. It was a few weeks before his passing.

John Lincoln, my mentor passed away on December 16, 2009. This photo was taken when I visited him at his assisted senior apartment in Pasadena where he was recovering from a stroke, on November 21, 2009 during Thanksgiving week. John has been my mentor since my graduate study at CSULB in 1994. I've been attending  his life drawing workshop at his LA studio since 2004. No words are enough to express my gratitude for his teaching and his presence in my life.
